How do old grades from CCCs affect UC transfer decisions?

Is there a thread for this already? I can’t find one.

I returned to school after an 11 year hiatus and I am curious what to expect with the transfer process. Here’s a quick breakdown to give you an idea of where I am coming from.

Ranked Hopeful Universities - UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UC Davis, UC Riverside
Major - PoliSci
Application GPA: 3.83
Prereqs - All will be completed for each school before transfer
IGETC - Completed this fall
Clubs - No clubs. I have been employed consistently throughout though.

My questions are:
How do the UCs treat old grades such as mine? The same? Different? What can I expect from that?

Also, any general critiques are welcome. This is the first time posting here and I would appriciate any feedback or suggestions.

I applied for the fall 2014. I had a B, C and an F from the late 1990s. my GPA at time I submitted my app was about 3.65. Without those old grades I would have had about a 3.95. I was accepted to Irvine. Also accepted and attended UCLA. I didn’t apply to any other UCs. Like you I had no clubs but tons of work experience. I was also accepted to 3 CSUs and a couple of private schools.

I think your recent coursework is far more important than 10 year old grades. I think you’re a lock for every school except UCB and UCLA. That’s only because both of those schools are a crap shoot no matter what! But I think you have a solid chance at both of those. UCLA loves older students so I feel like you’re just about a shoe in.

They don’t really factor in grades from 11 years ago and 1 B and 1 C shouldn’t even really cross their radar (and they aren’t that bad anyway).

Good luck!
