How have you seen peoples change once they get into college? do immature high schoolers become mature? do good students turn into wild party-goers?

do immature high schoolers become mature?
absolutely not.

do good students turn into wild party-goers?
how do you define good students? For those who are not motivated, the answer may be yes.

i disagree. i think some immature high schoolers do become mature once out in college (unless its a really "hs" college), when they learn how stupid high school was.

I certainly became a lot more mature. Just ask my mum. That's just part of growing up and (successfully) living on your own for the first time.

I definitely didn't become a party animal, since I was pretty reclusive during high school. Still can't abide the smell of ethanol. I did mellow out - I was pretty intense and scary in high school, and college taught me how to prioritize and just let things go. (Actually, I'm still working on that.)

College also expanded my mind. I was pretty close-minded as a high schooler, and just being exposed to people and ideas that were different that mine made me realize a lot about myself. I never want to stop learning about those things.

Fundamentally, my personality did NOT change.

I opened this thread thinking it would be some shy freshman worrying about dropping his drawers in front of his roommate(s) or some girl wondering how to get dressed in the morning while the roomie is chilling on the futon.

I was hoping for a good laugh at the end of a really crappy day but I was disappointed, CC members. Disappointed. :(

I've become somewhat of an alcoholic, more outgoing, and a little more apathetic towards work. Those things might all be connected, but who knows?

I do what I have to to get by with good (B+/A-) grades, but that's only because I don't have my parents pushing me to excel at everything. I think I was basically burned out in high school.

cards4life, lol, ur comment was funny. So I guess I'll ask that question too, do any of you find it hard to change ur clothes in front of your roomate in college?

I personally changed a lot during college. I matured a lot in my opinion, and took school a lot more serious. I finished high school with a 3.1 GPA, and graduated Cum Laude from a top 25 university. In other aspects I changed as well. What is sad in a way is that I lost most of my friends from High School during my four years in college, however it is largely because I just was not the same person who I was when I went in. Just be prepared, change will happen, it did to me as well as many of my friends. However just because it's change doesn't mean it'll be bad.
