Ok ik this may seem super weird and non important, but I have heard that the girls at this school dress like fancy on a regular basis and even to class. Is this true? Like sundresses to class and skirts and stuff to games? im from Illinois and thats like the furthest from how I am used to dressing and its kind of concerning me! Anyone have any exoirience with this school and the kinds of clothes they wear!?

Nope, you’ll see everything. You’ll see some dresses and skirts on a daily basis, but also nike shorts, yoga pants, jeans with a few warm-ups thrown in. My D does a little of everything although never dresses up for football games (well maybe a cute top with jeans or shorts). Lots of people do dress for football but by no means everybody. It never gets super cold so lots of fleece for winter. D veers toward classic but not really preppy, best friend is total hipster, another friend does the Lily Pulitzer thing…you’ll see it all.

Ok thanks! I was super worried about this. My moms friend has a daughter who went to elon, I believe, and she hated the atmosphere and clothing especially and ended up transferring back to a Chicago school! Im visiting in the summer so im notquite sure how many ppl I will be able to see there!

Wow idk where you heard that but when I visited, everyone was in a tshirt and running shorts. In the morning, at night, at the mall, at restaurants. Every girl had on a Tee and running shorts. I’ve visited 3 times and that’s all I’ve seen, no fancy clothes at all

Woww omg thanks! That is seriously such a relief!!

girls during class mainly wear Sorority T shirts, Norts, and running shoes. Guys usually dress preppier during the week. It’s normal to see guys wearing sperrys everyday, rocking colorful polo shorts, and wearing bow ties.

For football games, girls are recommended to wear black dresses. You’ll see most girls in black dresses, cow boy boots, and garnet accessories.

Agreed with the above. Almost only see girls in nike shorts, colorful nike frees (shoes), and tshirts to class.

I would definitely look into getting a gameday dress though. Girls wear almost exclusively black gameday dresses to EVERY football game. It’s a tradition.

Dress for game day can be fun but really don’t have to… my D has never worn that to game but did make sure to have some garnet and black

The black dresses at games are part of the festivities/costume to show support for the university and team. They aren’t required, but are a fun part of the experience for those who choose to wear them.

Otherwise, what you wear at USC to classes and other activities is like most other schools.

I’ll also say that girls wear black dresses to football games. It isn’t required, but it’s definitely the absolute norm. Check out any USC girl’s facebook page and you’ll see pictures of her dressed up for games. Some girls do high heels, but I really don’t recommend it because you stand the entire game. Cowboy boots are very popular, but that has a lot to do with it being an easy way to sneak in alcohol.

For classes… It’s really everything. I know a lot of girls who dress up for every class in skirts/sundresses. I also know a lot of sorority girls who wear t-shirts and running shorts. It definitely isn’t everybody. I’d say just get a feel for things the first few weeks.

Do realize that football games are a huge part of Carolina life and it is VERY much a southern tradition to dress up for games. Even if they’re not wearing a black dress, the grand majority of girls are very dressed up for games.

The south is slightly preppier in general - that’s just how it is. I am from PA and just toured yesterday. i have family in the area and know how the people dress.

It’s pretty standard to see guys walking around in short khaki shorts or cargo shirts with brightly colored t shirts (lots of polo and stuff like that) also wearing flip flops and boat shoes like sperry’s.

It’s preppy but at the same time it’s laid back and not flashy. It’s different then what I’m accustomed to where kids dress a lot sportier with sneakers or a little flashier but there is definitely a mix.

Most girls I saw and have seen around wear shorts and t shirts and flip flops also some more athletic flexible gear like sneakers and running shorts and t shirts. Lots of girls wore very casual looking sundresses with open toed shoes and also saw a few with jeans and yoga pants. The dress id far more formal st the private LACs in the south I’ve looked at - Elon and Wake Forest.

There is a lot of diversity in taste and background - you won’t stick out like a sore thumb if you wear jeans or yoga pants instead of a sundress or a fancy dress or skirt. People just like to be comfortable mostly.
