How do people find out if they got a perfect AP score?

I've always thought that the only scoring information you received from AP tests was the 1-5 grade. But a Google search turns up plenty of results for news stories of students who earned perfect scores. For instance, this article (Two Solon High Students Received Perfect AP Test Scores - Solon, OH Patch) from Dec. 10, 2012, highlights two students who received perfect scores last spring. How do these students find out their score?

The only way they would know is if the College Board told them. Apparently CB notifies the perfect scorers.

I believe College Board notifies the school, and then the principal or guidance counselor will tell you.

Yes, CollegeBoard notifies the recipient’s school.

That’s got to be a great accomplishment. I had no idea, thanks for the info.
