I'm about to graduate and honestly, I'm clueless about how to get a job. I've applied to internships, but besides my okay gpa, I don't know what else to stress. I'm thinking about going to grad school. Is there any way for me to get a respectable job with a future in the 45-50k range with a letters and science degree? Can someone PM me some tips, because I'm really uncertain and the advice I get from people isn't that helpful?

Well, people typically apply for jobs once they graduate.

In all seriousness though, what is your L&S degree? Is it a complete waste?

Did you do any internships during undergrad? If you graduate without any work experience of internships, it’s going to be tough.

Looks like you’re an example of one of those “I went to college but I didn’t know what to do so I majored in Psychology (or whatever major)”

I predict you will end up in law school because that’s what most people like you do.

First you have to decide what it is you want to do. Do you really see yourself liking this career 5 years, 15 years down the line? You could always switch I suppose. But it would be nice if you can start at something and keep getting better at it.

15 years down the line, you may even take a job that doesn’t even exist today.

Do your parents know anyone well enough that you can list them as a reference?

I suggest that you try out some temp agencies if you can’t secure a full time job. It will get you some money, and maybe even a full time job if the company likes you.

Edit: I did a quick search and found that you are majoring in Anthro. What kind of job are you looking to get?

Also, look outside of LA or even CA. The unemployment rate in Virginia is like 6%, while the unemployment rate in NV is close to 15% with CA not far behind (~13%)
