How do people stay sane in Ithaca?

The vomit all over Collegetown sidewalks on Saturday mornings, the weather, the cabin fever.

How do Cornell students stay sane in Ithaca besides drinking? Am curious.

Hockey games? Clubs? What?

Our winter wasn’t that bad haha

Cornell students go out to dinners, movies, formals, dance/music recitals, plays, fraternity parties, concerts, hiking, skiing,…Both of my kids went to Cornell, the younger one is still there. They often had more events to go to than they had time for. They rarely stayed home if they didn’t have to study.

Over the years, I have visited Ithaca quite a bit. I always enjoy the restaurants in Ithaca. There are some great spas too.

I guess my question to you, op, is how do you stay sane? If it is sun bathing on the beach, well no, Ithaca is not for you.

But in addition to what oldfort says, there is lots to do outdoors. “Ithaca is gorges” is the slogan on t-shirts. There are gorges where people go swimming and hiking, beautiful waterfalls, a lake to go boating. And the area is known for its NY wineries. A senior week tradition, for instance, is for groups to rent limousines or buses to take them to many different wineries for tastings. Can have a good time and not worry about driving.

Some decent ski slopes are near by. And there are some really decent restaurants, as oldfort said.

My D did not join a sorority but still had a very full life with friends, extra- curricular activities, work ( her choice), school work. She loves Cornell and now go backs regularly to recruit for her company.

Correction: we don’t vomit on Saturday mornings; we vomit on Friday nights haha. Some people even vomit on Thursday nights.

@jfx246 vomit left over from the night before :stuck_out_tongue: Sorry about that.
