How do petroleum engineers deal with the "remote area" issue?

i am interested in study petroleum engineering . however i am sort of scared about the fact that petroleum engineers always travel and work in some remote areas....

Do most petroleum engineers work in a remote area all the time? Can a petroleum engineer work in a office?

The money that Petroleum Engineers typically receive if they are based in the field, either as very high salaries, or as per diem compensation, takes care of a lot of the ‘problems’ that typically would be associated with such.

A petroleum engineer might not be able to hang with the girlfriend every night if they’re in the field, but the high salary generally would allow for certain luxuries such as nice vacations, good levels of savings, etc.
