How do points work?

So I understand the whole Cal 1 card point system for meals except for one aspect. at calso, when we went to Crossroads to eat it looked like the Cal 1 Card "swiper" was before you really got into the cafeteria, so do they just charge a certain number of points, no matter how much (or little) you eat? Or am I completely wrong?

Thanks

Yup, at Crossroads and all the other dining commons, you get charged a certain number no matter how much you eat. 7.25 for dinner; 6.25 for lunch; 5.25 for breakfast.

At the campus cafes, the Den, and BearMarket, though, you get charged for what you buy. Think of a point as a dollar..

Is it a 1:1 dollar-point ratio though? I was always under the impression that we're getting screwed out of our money...

Is the lunch always the same as dinner. if not, when do they close to cook the dinner for that night.

and another question, how do students discipline themselves because it would be tempting to eat A LOT every night because you want to feel like you get your money's worth and also because there's so much food to try. Im just worried about gaining the Freshman 15.

On campus it is a 1:1 for your money. And you wont always eat at the DCs, but if you are worried about managing your points you can go to the cal dining site and log in and they tell you how many points you have and how many you should have at different points in the year. You dont get scrwed out of your money. Its really a good deal.

No; lunch is different from dinner. (At least at Crossroads), a few stations are the same like the pizza station and burger station. But at the other places they rotate, and at blue plate special, they do something a little more "casual" for lunch.

i think they raised the prices for food for '06-'07. breakfast will be 5.50, lunch 6.50, dinner 7.50. (these are in points if you have a meal plan; if you spend $$ at the DC, it'll cost more)

points are sort of 1:1 for money: when you add points through the account, you get 55 points per every $50, but when you spend money at the GBC, $1 counts as 1 point.

why is dinner 2 pts more than breakfast?

you have a bigger selection and the food is more expensive for them. And plus they want to get every penny out of us.

so how do you prevent the Freshman 15?

The Freshmen 15 doesn't really apply to that many people... I gained 2.5lbs. Yay.

Well it applys to some, so just watch what you eat. And you can always go to the RSF and work out.
