I'm interested in both of them, and PPE is one of my potential majors.
Can anyone please compare the two PPE programs in specific terms? (courses, profs, workload, etc.)

I was wondering the same thing! We did a project in Calculus and we had to research two classes at the college we wanted to attend (I know. Not really related to math but one of the classes we chose had to be a math one.). The PPE program at Pomona has a class that sounds really amazing. It’s called “Freedoms, Markets and Well Being”. I don’t know… I just wanted to share that… it just sounds like a really amazing class.

So I’m a PPE major at Pomona and the two programs are very different. To major in PPE at Pomona is really just to fulfill a set of requirements. Besides the class that you mentioned and the thesis you write which has to incorporate two of the areas, PPE doesn’t really have a specific program per se. That said, you get out of it what you put in, so it can be an easy major (ie. three minors) or a really hard one depending on which and amount of classes that you end up takings. I like it because it offers an incredible amount of flexibility, and it’s good for those of us who simply can’t chose a major :)

However, if you think that PPE is your passion, then the CMC program is probably going to be more appealing. It’s a selective program that one has to apply for during his or her sophomore year so there is no guarantee that you will get in. It’s a tough call because you could end up not getting in and then feel like you based an important decision off something that didn’t come to fruition. Pomona is philosophically against honors programs because all of its students are “special.” CMC shares no such qualms… Furthermore, in the CMC program you will become quite close with your fellow PPE’ers, and you will definitely have more institutional support.
