How do raw scores convert?

Does anybody know how the raw number of correct choices you have in any particular section are converted to the 1-36 scale? Specifically, I'm worried about the science section, where I might have gotten anywhere from 5 to 10 questions wrong. I'm hoping it doesn't lower my score too drastically.

Ditto. I am worried about the same thing. I didn't finish the science section. (4 questions randomly bubbled)

Yeah, I didn't really have time to read the last section, and had to randomly bubble 5 of them. I hope I didn't screw myself over too bad :-(

General science scale:

-0: 36
-1: 35
-2: 33
-3: 31
-4: 29
-5: 28
-6/-7: 27
-8: 26
-9/-10: 25
etc.

In the higher scores (30-36), every answer wrong is about one point off the score. Below 30, for the most part, it'll usually take 2-3 wrong answers (depending on the section) before a point is taken off.

It depends on the difficulty of the science tests... i remember taking practice tests at home that on one science section i got a 37 out of 40, and it gave me a 31... on the next test i took, i got a 37 out of 40 again, but the score was a 33... same amount wrong.. different scores... that's because the 2nd one was harder than the first (evidently, i didn't think they were much different, but oh well).

i'd say that UHSdebater's scoring method (each wrong answer is one point less until 30/31, then 2-3 wrong is per point) is pretty accurate overall

All right, thanks! I'm feeling a lot better now, especially considering most people found the science section abnormally hard. I just hope the nice folks at ACT thought the same when they made it >.<

Man, I'm really scared about my science score... On all of the PR practice exams, I had like 10 minutes left, but on the real thing I ran out of time and had to guess on 5. I probably got 1-2 of those right by chance, and I probably missed 4 others. I'm hoping for a 27 at this point, as long as I get a 28 Composite, I'll be happy.

I noticed that there were some questions like "which choice would not fit" in the English section, and there was nothing like that on the PR sample tests. w-the-f?? There were a few (maybe 3-4?) that I found somewhat difficult on the English section, so I'm hoping for a 28-29.

I can't wait until scores are released! I'm just going to hope to high heaven that they don't lose my test again :-O

I found these two conversion tables on the Web:
