how do scholarships work?

as seen above, how does the distribution of money from scholarships work?

do i pay upfront first and get reimbursed or do i only pay the amount that is not covered?

thanks in advance!

If the scholarship is from the school, they’ll just credit your account and bill you for the balance. If it’s an outside scholarship, those are generally paid by the sponsor to the school and again, you’d pay the balance.

Thanks so much LasMa!

but i have to pay the housing fee by a certain date…so do i just pay it?
my scholarships are from school

Contact the FA office, they will definitely be able to help you. As I recall, the charges hit your bill first, and the scholarships hit sometime after you’re officially enrolled around the time school actually starts. My D’s school just told us the amount we needed to pay, even though the scholarship wasn’t reflected on the bill yet. But give them a call; you’re definitely not the only student in this position, so they’ll know what to do.
