How do schools such as Brandeis expect Transfers to wait untik JUNE 1 for decisions?!

I just called Brandeis Admissions and they told me I and all other transfer students will find out in June. Thats great, except for the fact that I have to tell other colleges If i will enroll at their school by May 1...so basically I;m not going to Brandeis !!!!!!

I have the same problem. I'm not sure what I should do.

if you get into another school in may put down a deposit and wait for brandeis, you'll lose your deposit if you get in at brandeis but hey its like $75 and admission so its pretty small in comparison to tuition.

The most you'll lose is a deposit, which is hardly significant. Go where you want to go. Worrying about loosing a 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 dollar deposit is just stupid.

I will only lose a deposit? I checked my college acceptances so far and they have 2 checkboxes on the card i have to send back:
1. No I will not send a deposit and will not enroll
2. Yes I will send a deposit AND ENROLL!

Can i send the deposit and other schools Im enrolling there, and then change my mind June 1? Sounds fishy and dishonest.

That does sound a bit dishonest. I'm not sure what I will do and right now I really don't have the time to figure it out, but if you figure out a viable solution, PM me.

That seems to be really unfair... try calling up the schools and asking them

I think you can ask for extensions. And I definitely know you can wait until after financial aid notifications.

Check the Yes box. Send the deposit.

Colleges and universities know that some transfer applicants are waitlisted at other institutions, that some are waiting on late notifiers (like Brandeis), that some change their minds and stay at their original colleges/universities, that some decide to take time off and not continue their studies this year, and that still others die of an unexplainable disease hours before they should arrive for orientation. The term used for this is "summer melt". Just be sure to notify the college/university that you aren't enrolling after all (or trust that someone will do it for you if you have dropped dead) and don't expect to get your deposit back.

I was just surfing the YouTubes and I came across a video on the 'usnewsandworldreport' channel that had a guy talking about students having their admissions revoked. The main reasons were lower grades, disciplinary issues, and double-depositing. I know we wouldn't be DOUBLE-depositing, but the guy did make a comment about how some schools communicate and share lists of students that have been accepted. I personally do not know if schools do, but it seems feasible that if the schools do communicate, then they might be able to see where you have made a deposit before they send you a letter of admission. The schools could find out where you applied through the CSS/Financial Aid App. or maybe even FAFSA. What do you guys think?
