The people who score highest on the CR section are those that have been big readers their whole life. Thats not to say if you are not a reader you can’t do well, but reading a lot def makes it easier. Thats just what I observe

^ very true. i’ve gotten an 800 in cr on the psat and sat with no preparation because i’ve been an avid reader all of my life. the more you read, the better you’ll get at comprehending what you’re reading quickly and the easier it will be for you to pick out the answer right away. i usually end up very interested in the selections, which i definitely think helps because it becomes less of a “this is a test this is a test” mentality and helps me focus as i’m reading the passages. i read the whole thing through fairly quickly before i do anything else. i answer the questions i’m sure of right away and then do the ones where i need to reference the passage again.

there’s also an element of luck to it, with the curve, guessing, etc. if i don’t see a clear answer immediately, i go right to process of elimination instead of trying to reason the correct answer out. you might get stuck with two answer choices that seem viable, so go with either and come back at the end and try to think through it instead of freaking yourself out for the rest of the test because you spent so much time over-analyzing one question. i guess this goes without saying if you’re looking for an 800, but don’t leave any questions blank.
