William & Mary fits all those criteria and is relatively close to the coast – there are several beaches within a 15 minute drive. I wouldn’t really call it urban though, it is more akin to a tourist town with lots of restaurants and attractions nearby. It’s about an hour away from Richmond or Virginia Beach, two other major cities in Virginia. It is about half an hour away from Newport News, which has lots of restaurants, a mall, Costco, and several Asian markets and cultural supermarkets.
