How do these colleges stack up against what I'm looking for?

Yes exactly! I will say that it is not as common for students to have cars the first two years, but if you have friends that have cars or are willing to take public transportation it is pretty easy to get around. Over the summer, I would take weekend trips to Richmond and DC pretty frequently which can be as cheap as 20 and 30 dollars round trip respectively. There’s also an outlet mall and “Newtown” which has lots of restaurants and the movie theater that is not too far from campus. It’s not your typical college town, but it is geared decently towards college students. Feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions about it!

This is great info! As a student, I probably wouldn’t expect to take more than 1 trip to DC per semester (maybe 1 per month to Richmond or Norfolk), due to the distance. As W&M is a public university, I imagine a lot of students also come from the Richmond and Norfolk areas, or from Northern Virginia - right?
