How does Fordham send admissions decisions? E-mail or snail mail? When I got my application confirmation letter my e-mail address was missing. However, I received an e-mail shortly after I applied. I just don't want to have to wait even longer to get my decisions if they send them out by e-mail in addition to snail mail.

Unless they are doing it differently this year, snail mail, which was SO frustrating. Plus, we live in Florida so it took longer (for some reason) for us to get the letters. They sent out the acceptances last year on a Friday, and we didn’t get them for about a week! But, to be fair, that was early acceptance and it was around the holidays, but still. Our mail seemed to take a few days longer than students in the tri-county area.

4 years ago, my son got his the week before Christmas. No email.

3 years ago we got an email notice, followed within a few days by snail mail. But that was RD (D1 didnt apply EA to Fordham). Most colleges, unless they are on rolling admissions, will notify you just before Christmas for EA, ED decisions. The good news it can make your Christmas cheery, and the bad news it can be a real bummer if you get deferred or rejected outright. However, you know in December and don’t have to wait until late March…and believe me, waiting until late March is a real drag. So be grateful for what you receive in December. Hopefully its great news. If its not, then chin up and get working on your next round of applications IMMEDIATELY because many schools have January 1 deadlines for postmark on your applications. Have a list of Plan B schools ready to go…in fact, start working on them now just in case. If you don’t need them, then don’t worry…its not lost time or energy. Its all good.

Good luck.

will we know what scholarships or grants we will be offered when we get our decisions?

Looking on the website, apparently the CSS PROFILE was due for EA on Nov 1, 2009. What did I no know this? I received no e-mail? I sent mines in on Dec 1. Will I receive FA info based one the PROFILE with the RD date then?

Where did you see that? On their web site I saw:
Fall admits by February 1
• Transfer admits by May 1
• Spring admits by November 1

Students who would like to have their application reviewed early may submit an application by November 1. Students applying under the Early Action process should complete the SAT or ACT by October of their senior year. The Early Action process is non-binding, and students do not have to commit to the institution they plan to attend until May 1. Decision letters will be mailed by December 25. Estimates of financial aid for Early Action applicants can be made after Fordham receives the processed CSS Profile form"
I didn’t do it early for my son 4 years ago and didn’t do it this time either. I would rather have hard numbers Jan.1st than try to correct it, it isn’t as easy as the fafsa to do so. (I can’t believe I said that line at all)
I know ED usually has that criteria because they need to give you your award early. Fordham admitted my son the week of Christmas and we got the FA early Spring. (still have the papers)

…now i’m confused. I didn’t send in a CSS profile and I applied EA. I don’t even know what a CSS profile is?

Feb 1 is the FAFSA deadline for EA.
I found it here: [Financial Aid Codes / Deadlines](http://www.fordham.edu/tuition__financial_a/undergraduate_studen/financial_aid_codes__22615.asp)

Aren’t we supposed to receive EA decisions from Fordham by Dec 15 this year? That’s what it said in the confirmation letter they sent me.

The CCS PROFILE is through the Collegeboard. Only like 300 colleges use it, including Fordham, and it makes you eligible for institutional need-based scholarships and grants.

Ohboi - i just checked the fordham website and it says the decisions will be mailed on the 25th

I felt better when I read this:
The deadlines for filing your CSS Profile are as follows:
November 1 - Early Action Students who wish to have an estimate of their financial aid eligibility
February 1 - Incoming Freshmen and Early Action Students who did not previously file

There is no advantage or disadvantage to filing early if you are applying for Early Action. If you file your CSS Profile by November 1st, you will receive an estimated financial aid package by approximately February 10 and we will send you your actual financial aid package in April, after you complete your FAFSA.

I would rather wait than have to correct the CSS later, although having an estimate is nice. Some of those estimates though, I remember from my son, did change a few thousand (not in my favor) when the real ones came out. (this was need-based)

I just recieved an e-mail stating the same thing. I had gotten nervous. lol
So even though I just submitted by CSS, I still have to re-submit it later? Or you just mean send them copies of the 2009 tax returns and all that stuff?

You have to update but you can’t do it online. You have to mail in any corrections from your tax returns. I would call or write at the time to make sure how to do it.

i think the choice application is the one that you get a decision by dec 15. i got the choice application but i still submitted my application through the common app. i was still able to have my app fee waived, which is one of the perks of the choice app, but i was wondering if i will still get an earlier decision. anybody know?

yep- i did the choice app too, through the commonapp. i applied EA, so i’m assuming you did too? if so, december 15th it is. good luck! :)

wait, i’m confused. email or snailmail for EA? i applied commonapp lol.

yeah i did apply EA. i am so anxious, only 3 more days! do u know if it is no later than the 15th or around then

It says EA applicants will be notified by Dec. 25 on their website.bb

confused. I applied EA through the Choice App (not through the Common App fee wavier). Do I hear back on the 15th or the 25th? Snail mail or email??

laurenrp: you should hear by the 15th, and i think it is through snail mail
