How do they pick from the waitlist?

Does anyone know how UCSB will pick from the waitlist? Is it by GPA/SAT or random or first come first serve/etc? I got waitlisted and if I don't get in, I'll have to end up going to UCR or Cal Poly SLO...

Hey TheShowGoes0n, if I’m not mistaken, we talked a bit in the Irvine threads. I got waitlisted as well and I was going to ask the same question. I accepted the waitlist offer right when the decision came out, around 2:10 pm pdt because I thought it’s a first come first serve method, but hope someone knowledgeable can chime in on our situation.

I accepted right away as well. I guess all we can do is hope for the best.

I also got waitlisted and accepted right away. Does anybody from previous years that was on the waitlist, or any current ucsb students, have any infos regarding how they choose from the waitlist?

Just wanted to clarify: I emailed the Admissions Office because I had some questions, one of them was about how they choose from the waitlist, and I was told that there is no rank or order as to which students get admitted (i.e. it doesn’t matter when you accepted the offer, AND it doesn’t matter where you stand academically in comparison to others, there is no list or ranking of any sort). I believe they review the applications again should space become available for waitlisted applicants and make their decisions based on that.
