How do transfer schools usually deal with inconsistent academic performance

Hi,

I'll make it quick. Due to illness, my first semester grades were quite poor (i'm a freshman). However, I am usually a top student. Let's just say I do above the cut off for my next three semester yet hypothetically saying, say my total average isn't at cutoff. Do schools take in consideration that you were sick or is it better that you don't even tell them at all (I don't have supporting documents for a private reason)?</p>

If you want some more detail please pm me.

My grades are horrible as well. I might a get around a 2.0 now... but if I raise it next semester, well colleges see that, since people apply after the 1st semester?

2.0 is a C?
Tpeck, are you at WUSTL?
and John_T, where do you go?
work harder, get that B!

Going to school in Canada. Screwed up first term but have pretty good ecs.

John_T: I am in a nearly identical situation to yourself. I myself am striving to make grades for the next two semesters that will bring me just barely to the cutoff after my one-semester fall, and my hope is that when coupled with an explanation of illness backed by an official statement from the dean, that will be sufficient for some colleges to view me as a top student. I don't know for sure though.

what school are you thinking of applying to?
