so my parents have never ever pressured me to get better grades, etc bc they knew that id put pressure on myself to get things done.

now with sats and college apps, my dads been on my back telling me that i am aiming for a 750 in eac section on the next sat (june), an act score in the 30s, etc...

theyre shelling out $120 a week for a tutor...

a lot of my cousin have attended top notch schools, whether in korea, or here: harvard, upenn, stanford, wellesley, mit...

i have a feeling i'll just end up at u of i urbana champaign...

how do u guys deal with this? what do u tell ur parents?

hey i'm in the SAME position as yours!
I found out (like last week) that most of my cousins are ivy alumni/students, and some are in seoul med school (apparently, that's really good?), 1 in cambridge and my grandparents are alumnis of oxford i think.

My mom says I should be able to get 750 but never pressures me to do anything.
I get tutored everyday except wednesdays (i tutor ppl too lol) and they spend over $600 on my tutorings every month (i've seen thier calculations :( )
I know I'm going to end up in an 'average' school. But they think I'm going to get into yale haha i wish.

how i deal with it? I just shrug it off.

when my mom tells me i should get 750 in 3 days time, I just laugh and joke around.
My parents are pretty lax so it's ok to joke around with them.
I say shlt like "hey if i get 750, can you buy me a BMW?" and they say stuff like "yeah of course" and then I start laughing. Then we all laugh together (because we all know that I'm not going to get 750).

hahaha i hope i get 750. They were actually serious haha

I also keep telling them over and over again that i'm going to get 600.. and that i'm NoT going to get into yale... You know.. so it won't be tooooooo disappointing at that time.

Try these with your parents. Unless your parents are really scary.. Then just work 2wice as hard.
