well i'm trying to get All A's and i just cant seem to do it,so i was wondering how you straight A students achieve this. Do u guys study your classes even if you dont have a test or quiz on it? How much time do u guys usually spend on homework? And i just cant seem to concentrate in class, idon why, can u guys give some suggestions? it'd be greatly appreciated

Some people are naturally smarter than others so the grades come more easily to them

Some people are able to work work work. Some people's parents make them work, work, work.

Some people happen to be really interesting in learning so it's not a chore for them to do it.

Some people cheat.

Getting straight As is an art. It's simple to figure out but hard to execute unless you've got some talent. This is assuming you're actually taking a fair number of AP/Honors classes. Otherwise it's just plain doing the homework.

b4ndd20, what do u do? do u study for classes even wen there's no quiz/tests? and how do u mange your time wisely

I will study even though there are no quizzes or tests the next day...it helps me get finished with homework quicker.

And it's not THAT hard to make straight A's. Just do all of the homework and make A's on the tests/quizzes.

And if you do all the homework you are pretty much guaranteed to ace quizzes. To get As in hard classes, the secret (which isn't really a secret) is to go to the teacher for help as often as possible. Go every day after school if you have to. The teacher will be more likely to cut you some slack on grading. I didn't realize how important this was until my senior year, which is really pathetic!

you can't just want to get straight As. It's a lot harder than it sounds you know. You have to know how high to aim. Only you know your abilities; if you think you can get straight As..then study your ass off! But if straiht As is not your thing then there's really nothing you can do about it. Accept the fact that some people are luckier than others.

^But I think anyone has the potential. I never used to make straight A's until my 9th grade year.

i know i can get straight a's, this term i got straight a's but one a- so its not a matter of not being able to,its developing the abilites and skills to be able to do it for ever term.

Yea...that and trying to keep them all balanced, which is hard for me because whenever I raise a grade in a class, another goes down.

everyonr has potential, but not everyone knows they have potential. A negative attitude (which includes asking people how they do it) won't get someone straight As. Only continuous studying will.

Just do what the teachers says when they say it. Simple. Some things (studying) go unsaid, though.

Work, work, work! this might get you anywhere from a 95-98, but for the 99 or 100 average -> you have to be a genius or naturally very smart (not just smart) or have very easy teachers

I think its impossible to get straight "As"... For example, the highest grade in my AP Bio class was an A-,

well my question is how do you get an A in precalculus!!!! i can't seem 2 get anything except a B

I am in advanced precalc -> what you take before BC senior year.
I have a 97 in that first quarter and I think I have a 106 in that class now (first time he ever gave extra credit).
What you need to do is do a lot of math problems until you get really good at it and if you don't understand something ask your teacher.

[Rant] I have straight a/a-'s except for my intensive math class. There are only four grades the entire quarter which is four tests. I work with my teacher every day either before or after school, except friday and thursday i have a tutor and i work on it outside of those sessions. After all that I still got a 67 and a 75, after getting two 50s on the first two tests. I'm obviously not stupid because all my other classes are easy for me, but it's just how the class is run and ahhhh so say I have a D on my report card for one semester how much does that bring down my gpa. Sorry for the rant but I don't know what else I can do.

I have a C in Precalc Honors, but I think I have a 98% now...I don't know what I'd do without group quizzes and extra credit :D .

you have group quizzes?

Yeah, with 3 people to a group and fortunately I have a very smart Asian in my group. We always get A's on our quizzes. This week's was easy because it was on matrix operations and row-echelon form.

The reason for my bad grade in the first quarter was because we had to do exponential and logarithmic functions and they tore me apart lol.
