Hi everyone

I'm wondering if anyone knows how UCs verify the information you self-reported on the applications.

What is the process like?

I've heard things such as:
- 10% are randomly checked
- a computer automatically scans all applications and certain applications are flagged

Any truth in these?
What do you guys know about this?

Are you planning on "embellishing" your application? Or are you asking for a friend of a friend? ;)

Why are you so curious? Whatever you're contemplating, don't do it.

So what was the purpose of creating 2 threads asking basically the same question?

Don't even contemplate falsifying information on your application. Even if schools don't find out now, if they find out in the future, even after you've graduated, they can, and will, take away your diploma.

I highly don't recommend embellishing. It is very tempting... I know. At the end when you DO get accepted, you will be feeling really guilty that you had to cheat to get in. You will also worry for a long time that you will get caught. I'd rather get rejected than lie. That's just me.

Also you have to send in a final transcript during the summer. So if you boosted your gpa, its for sure they will find out.

I was randomly checked. On the letter that I received one day (a very big packet), it told me that I was randomly chosen and that I wasn't targeted for any particular reason.

Haha, wow that's pretty scary. It's cool that they notified you though, i guess.
How'd it all end? Details?
