I was accepted and given an invitation to scholars but I just really want to make sure if I got into my choice of program. I applied to business.

Same situation here. Can't wait for the mail to come.

Yep, I'm in the same boat as well.

Is engineering a LEP?

yeah mellow it is

hmm... good question... i guess maybe i didnt get into the business school after all... :P

It should be in the stuff they mail you. It'll list your major based on your intended major you filled out in the application.

Do most people get accepted into an LEP if they applied by the priority deadline?

it's easier to get in if you apply by the priority deadline, yes, but some programs are also just competitive and will take the best students from the application group (so some of those who apply early will not get into the LEP and some who apply later will).

Look on the top of the Enrollment Confirmation letter they send via snail mail. It should say your major.

i read that if you dont get into business school right away you have to wait 2 years or something to reaply. so what, you will not be able to take any classes related to your major for two years?

mype-- you can take the 200-level classes related to business (accounting, stats, econ, etc) without being a business major. once you finish those first classes, you can reapply for the business school at 45 credits (i believe that's the number). [45 credits does not include AP credits from highschool.] plus, most underclassmen take CORE classes their first year or so anyway and only take a couple of classes from their major.

don't worry if you don't get into LEP now, you can take courses and if u get B or higher you will get admitted second year or so. First year you only take core classes anyway.
there are 9 leps at umd

actually, chasoses, you only need a C or higher for many programs (such as business) to transfer into an LEP. however, you need a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 (B), so if you're getting Cs in your LEP intro classes, you'd better get As everywhere else.

also, the decision is not solely based on your grades, and just because you meet the grade requirements doesn't mean that you're automatically admitted.

if you click on one of the LEP information sheets at the bottom of the site chaoses linked to, you can get more info about a particular program.

How hard is the admissions process to get into an LEP Program such as Business through Letters and Sciences?
