What kind of facilities does BC have for students? Gym? Is there any kind of fee associated with it? How far is it from the main campus? How far from the dorms?

Thanks a bunch!

There is a gym, it is on the upper campus. 5-10 min walk depending on where you live and how fast you walk but its all very close.

Edit: For freshman it will be a little longer because you all live on the southern part of campus.

The "plex", as the gym is called, is actually on the "lower" campus, between student housing and the stadium. Upper campus is where about 2/3 of the freshmen live (the other 1/3 living on the Newton campus a mile away). The middle part of the main campus is where most of the classroom buildings are. Many students also use the path around the Reservoir (across from "lower" campus area) for jogging/walking. It's better to go with a companion when using that, as it can be very secluded in areas. We've also seen many students jogging between Newton and the main campus on Commonwealth Ave.

Lots of students are into exercise--it's a very active campus!

Irishforever, noticed that your D is happy at BC,
Could you pm me about student/prof interaction or
lack of at BC? My D has enjoyed that aspect of her
small HS & I wonder if it happens at BC?thanks.

There is also a gym on the Newton Campus called the Quanset Hut. When its nice there are always kids outside playing frisbee or whiffle ball. The neighborhoods around the Newton campus are very nice and safe for jogging/walking.
I personally do not like to run/jog, so I usually go to the plex (on lower) between classes cause its convenient, has a decent amount of equipment and wakes you right up if you have a less-than-interesting 9AM class. :)
Also, the plex offers group exercise classes (tae-boxing, yoga, pilates, total-body-conditioning, etc) free of charge every day!
You'll have no problem staying in shape with all the offerings around campus, plus you'll always be walking from one place to another.
