I am currently a Neuroscience major and I am taking calculus 2. At first I was doing well, but after midterms I started to fail every quiz given and I’m having a very hard time with the topics. Calc 2 isn’t a requirement for my major, so it can’t look that bad, right? If I drop this, it will be my 2nd W. should I do it?
You have to do what’s best for you. If you are genuinely failing Calc 2, then a W is better than a F. A F will drag down your GPA.
But, yes, a W looks bad–even it’s for a non-required class. And worse, a pattern of withdrawals on your academic record will make adcomms question your judgment, you academic ability and your persistence in the difficulty/adversity.
A W is better than a D or F.
What was your other W in?
