List ALL the techniques you used to get your club the way it is now.

And how do you keep the members in the club?

I’m planning to start a club next year (idk about you guys, but my school only allows clubs to be proposed during this certain time of year before the following school year) so this’d be a nice thread :D

well from what i can tell;

and for keeping members, a public strike system is pretty effective despite seeming like it wouldn’t be(like 3 strikes and your out, and all strikes are posted on the door of your meeting room) I’d be a little lenient if it’s the first year though. people don’t like other people to know they’re irresponsible

but in my opinion, most students only do clubs either because they’re EXTREMELY passionate about the club’s interest, or they want it for their college apps (fbla and key club come to mind), more the latter than the former sadly. usually by including fundraising features or donating or community service in general, people join. and executive positions.

lol.

Facebook, posters, and make announcements. Keep them there with parties :D

lool i have lots of posters around but still little ppl come. i’ll put up more.

about the strike rule… if we implement it lots of ppl in the club will be out. to the point where few members remain =S

Also try to think of some cool things to give out and try to make it personal. I’ve doubled the size of the math team, we need a JV intramural league now haha. I designed sexy integral t shirts, we told everyone about our horror movie parties, got some cool people to join, visited math classes to recruit members, etc.

I have two words for you: free food

Advertise with posters around the school.

free food? … hmm so it’s like “come to this meeting, we’re gonna offer you pizza?”

the strike system sounds like a great way to kick people out of the club

Yeah, in my school if you advertise saying you’ll have free food, people will come.

they’ll come for the food and won’t stay. plus we’re not like a celebration club we’re kinda like math oriented. lol.

^ Maybe advertise free food (which will bring in the crowds) but not serve until after it? It might bring in people who might not have even known they’d be interested in the find the intro meeting to spark their interest in the club?
As long as you get some feet in the door and then it’s up to you to reel them in
