haha that is true maybe I can start some kind of comm theory like: Interactive Distraction convergence theory.

I have a problem with studying but I just have to motivate my self I thin kgetting accepted to ucsd on friday is the kick in the ass I needed I am ready!!

the control group would have normal conditions while studying the experimental group would have a dvd of choice playing while studying.

We could give a 20 question test (based on material being studied) and compare the mean scores for both groups to see if there is a significant difference. Running t-tests on real groups is fun for me lol.

I love comm theory and stats I have so many ideas especially regarding FB and ****. I dont know though i have heard I may change my major when i get there. are you there now? what maj are you?

@JTA1975 currently debating between UCB College of L & S and UC Davis Psychology.

I was able to conduct my first research (on a super small scale but, hey, I got experience) and fell in love with the whole process. My group designed a simple study but we got significant results (there were two hypotheses).

My favorite part was deciding how we were going to collect data and running the statistics. For some reason, I was designated as the head experimenter lol. One thing I realized when conducting my study is that there is no shyness in the research industry (aka be prepared for rejection).

If I didn’t have a girlfriend flwrgrl, and you didn’t have a boyfriend, you might be my soul mate. Only for me it’s a 1983 movie. John Carpenter’s “The Thing”.

If you liked video-games, that’d be the clinch.

Buy a mock degree, D, and put your name on it and the school you want to graduate from. Hang it up on the wall right above your desk.

When you don’t want to study, look at it and know that it’s going to be gone if you don’t work hard.

You can try what me and flwrgrl do. Play a movie that makes you relaxed and comfortable, but doesn’t make you want to sit around and do nothing.

i also love bio and math! though i hate chem lol, and i’m also at de anza, second quarter of chem with calgher :\ i also procrastinate a lot…so much so that i don’t end up doing a lot of the hw for most of my classes, though i can generally pull off high scores on tests (though i don’t really study more than about an hour before a test) so i’m still able to manage A’s somehow

I can’t study at home. I get too distracted and too tired. I usually go to a coffee shop for a few hours to do hw/study. There are always other people there doing work also, so it is motivating to know that I’m not alone in it. The coffee and cheap refills are definitely a plus, also. If I start getting tired, I just go outside for a few minutes then come back to it.

This has helped me because once I go there with the purpose of studying or doing hw (I walk there), I would feel dumb if I walked in with my bag full of heavy books and a laptop just to turn back around and carry them back home right after.

I only study the night before tests or sometimes, even just hours before the test. But I do pay attention and take good notes during lecture.

Plus adderall. LOL. Well actually I’ve only taken it once and omg that night was probably the MOST productive I have ever been in my entire life. Hahaha

Set a block of time each day, then just study/do hw.
Ex. 3pm-3:30pm.

It may only be 30 minutes a day, but that can go a LONG way for being prepared for tests. And it’s not such a big deal forcing yourself to study, cause I mean it’s only 30 minutes after all…
After a week+ of doing this, your study habits will improve drastically.

Only you know what you can get away with. Just think about it this way: Can you afford to spend another year at CCC? (In your case, two more years, haha.) That always motivated me.

I used to make my schedule “procrastination proof”, meaning I made sure there was always atleast an hour for me in between classes to study/finish anything.

I am also fighting procrastination
Study before the test works but it’s exhausting so I would love to be able to study way way before the test

PICTURE yourself in the future. If you don’t study, just think how all UCs will reject you and stuffs like that. But if you study, think about the rewards of your work.
See the consequences…and motivate yourself to study.
–> work for me

Also go to a coffee shop (choose one where most people study) to study, or the traditional library :)
