I can never focus really outside of the classroom on schoolwork and thus I end up not doing homework etc. Now this is a big problem of mind and I was just wondering how do you all do it? I mean it seems easy enough but how do all you good students study, do homework etc at home?

Haha, I’m pretty much the opposite. I can only focus when I’m outside of the classroom on my own.

Think about the worst case scenario of not working hard in high school, which would be not getting into college, not getting a stable job, and not being able to raise a family.

If you consistently have nightmares about a bleak future, eventually it’ll probably influence you to take school stuff more seriously.

You sound like a high-IQ/low-GPA student. You need to fix that problem and earn a Strong GPA. Otherwise you will have no future.

Easy, just don’t do hw until the last minute and I assure you that you will force yourself to focus just long enough to finish the assignment. Don’t try to accomplish your tasks early, it never works. procrastination is key to success in high school

I had the same problem earlier this summer with studying for the ACT, after about a week or so the two hour study period that I use to dread became something that I did habitually! Think about the future and how rewarding getting in to a good college, or something will be also.

it’s also kind of how you were raised.

Make doing your homework and studying a habit, at the same time each day. Take short breaks, then, when you are done with your homework and studying, you can relax
that’s what I do.

Ha ya I am just wondering in preparation for actual college cause I am already f******* for college since I’m THAT kid with the under 2.7 gpa with the 32 act ■■■■■■■■(not really just would seem so) college confidential of course. I mean and the fact I am in an online BC calc course and can’t find the motivation to work…

I doubt this will help you, but I work hard because I feel incredibly guilty if I don’t. It’s not a bad thing though because it’s become such a habit that I never even get around to feeling guilty; I just assume there is no other option but to do work.

In order to focus…
I suggest drinking a cup of hot coffee and locking yourself in a room without internet until you complete your homework.Don’t talk to anyone, and don’t touch your phone or play any games. The coffee also really helps a wandering mind (usually because your tired, or bored of working)

If you need to use the internet…then this plan may not work. But this was my strategy for writing a really good english paper. I barely had to edit it or anything after the first draft, and got a great grade (at least for me)

Ask your parents to pick you up late from school. Finish your homework in the library.

I get “time pressured” to do my hw. I get home really late, so if I want any sleep at all I can’t procrastinate. I don’t think this really applies to you though…

I don’t know if this will work, but isolate yourself in a quiet place (room, library, etc). Then start with the hw that does not require the computer. If you do the hw that requires computer first, it’s very likely you’ll procrastinate with CC, fb, etc. It’s a habit that you’ll just have to get used to.
