How do you avoid the "stupid factor"

Ok i took a practice act. i knew everything content wise. i still ended up making stupid errors that brought my score down to a 30. how do you avoid those annoying errors? i mean the ones that you know are right, but you somehow choose the wrong one. or when you put down what x equals when you were really supposed to put x+7. how do you avoid those stupid things? i mean is it just practice? i took a bunch and i keep making them. any advice? the test is sat!

Shark_Bite, i know exactly how you feel. When i took ACT Practice tests i did like a 30 because i made a lot of stupid mistakes. But since i acknowledged that my weakest area was mistakes, i made a conscious effort not to have any on the real test. This paid off, cuz I got a 35 on the actual one. So since you know that mistakes are your biggest issue, i'm sure you'll pay extra attention not to make any on the actual test.

shark...read my posts in the dec 10th thread. For math specifically, READ THE QUESTION BACKWARDS and plug your answer back in when you're finished (my other post goes into greater detail)...I went from missing 4 out of 60 to 0 out of 60 from that method.

Best of luck.

I think its all focus. For a long time, my SAT score stayed the same. Then I started having REAL focus and concentration and my score went up. So...

Though, I still don't know how to completely get rid of stupid. My score didn't go up that much. Maybe I'm just innately stupid.

"I still don't know how to completely get rid of stupid"

...I'm not trying to imply anything, but that was pretty funny. No offense :)

One word: adderall.

huh? adderall?

It's an ADD/ADHD drug used to increase the attention span of patients.

focus does miracles. as does relaxation. at least, for me..

But you can't legally get adderall without a diagnosis of ADHD and a doctor's prescription.

yeah guys, lets stick with real, honest ways of improving your score. Adderal is the same as an athlete using steroids. Its cheating and its bad for your health. Dont be stupid and do it.

Lol has anyone seen "How High" I never saw it but it looks funny. If i ever somehow get into harvard, im gonna rent a bunch of movies like that. (how high, legally blonde etc.)
