So I heard that the UCs calculate your GPA by taking all A+,A and A- to be 4.0 B+,B, and B- to be a 3.0 etc. I also heard that for every AP class that you add a point, and that you exclude your senior and freshman grades. First of all, is this true? Second of all, I'm taking 5 AP classes senior year, and I'm only taking 3 AP classes junior year, and none before that, so will they see the rigor of my courses? Third of all, are the posted average GPA of the UCs using the weighted add one point as I said earlier or no? Lastly I know they only calculate core classes, foreign language, and visual/performing arts. Does this include my semester of electronic music sophomore year, music theory sophomore year and my AP music theory junior year?

Yes, yes, each campus posts different numbers, a-g courses only.

The UC gpa is capped at 8 bonus points. UC app readers will also see your weighted, uncapped gpa. Tigor of senior schedule is a key consideration for admission.

[CaliforniaColleges.edu - Calculating Your GPA](http://www.californiacolleges.edu/admissions/california-state-university-csu/gpa_calculator.asp)

But does my senior year count, do my music classes count, and are the average GPAs using the weighted scale?

Did you actually look at the site??

I did, I can’t determine whether or not my music theory, electronic music and AP music theory are considered performing arts.

AP music theory is definitely counted as fine arts.

since your app is submitted prior to your senior grades being posted, in general they do not count for admissions. But, if you are on the bubble and a campus asks for Augmented Review, then senior grades can count. And of course, if you are admitted and don’t perform well senior year, your admission can be revoked.

All AP courses are eligible for the bonus point.

Let me try this again: “each campus posts different numbers…”
