How do you calculate the writing section score based off of MC and essay?

Topic pretty much says it. If you know your multiple choice score out of 800 and your essay score out of 12, how do you combine them to get your overal score out of 800?

The MC is out of 80, not 800. And there are conversion tables that you must use. There is no formula for converting your scores.

Actually I think the MC is out of 49. I have the conversion tables here:

http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SAT_raw_scaled_score_ranges.pdf

But, using that information I still don't know how to calculate the overall score with the essay.

In the blue book there should be a real conversion chart with MC score along one side and essay along the other. The charts they offer online are terrible and useless.

Are you talking about this book:

Amazon.com: The Official SAT Study Guide: The College Board: Books

If so, could anyone who has it scan the conversion tables or something. Would be really nice to know.

use this: https://satonlinecourse.collegeboard.com/SR/digital_assets/pdfs/eri/scoring_2007-2008.pdf

you might need to sign in first...

^ Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for, although based off of that I should have gotten ten more points on writing :( But, they did give me some extra ones on Math :P

Thanks, super helpful with the Collegeboard scores page
