How do you calculate UF GPA?

I'm very confused. Some say add 1.0 for AP classes and .5 for honors classes but what does that really mean?

So if I have a 3.8 UW GPA and got all A's in the 6 AP classes that I took, does that mean I have a 9.8 UF GPA? It can't be. Can someone clarify on how to calculate the UF GPA please?

Use the following scale:

Normal Classes
A = 4.0 points
B = 3.0 points
C= 2.0 points
D = 1.0 Points.

Honor Classes (add 0.5 points)
A = 4.5 points
B= 3.5 points
C= 2.5 points
D= 1.5 points
E = 0 points

AP/DE/IB/AICE Classes (add 1.0 points)
A = 5.0
B = 4.0
C= 3.0
D = 2.0
E = 0

Keep in mind that UF only looks at Academic classes (so no PE or study hall, etc).

As you can see, if you had all AP classes, your highest weighted GPA would be a 5.0. Since no one can take all AP classes (in 9th thru 11th grade), your weighted GPA will always be less than 5.0.

If you took 6 AP classes and had a 3.8 UW GPA, your UF weighted GPA would be a 4.8.

Make sure your school lists the classes “honors”. “We consider all our classes “honors”” as some private schools do won’t fly.

So if my overall gpa is a 3.5, it will bump up to a 4.5 because of AP classes (also honors very year)?

If all of your classes where honors, then your 3.5 would be a 4.0. If all of your classes where AP (which can’t happen), then it would be a 4.5 GPA.

A majority (13/20) of my academic classes are AP or honors. I couldn’t take every honors course at my school due to a bit of a weird schedule and availability.

When you filled out your SSAR, it should say when you log in.

@dudewhat Where? I don’t see it?

I’ve been in a journalism class for 3 years and it’s weighted as a regular clas because it’s an elective. Without it, I think my GPA would be higher. Does journalism count toward UF GPA? I wouldn’t think so, but what do I know…

Also, are there any AP classes that don’t count as academic classes?
