How do you change your avatar?

I have really tried to find out how to do it but have not been able to find it using search or in any of the stickies.

How can you change your avatar?

Choose preferences. (The gear like button to the far right of your name in the upper right corner of the screen. )
Choose “Change my picture” on the left side of the screen.
