This may make me sound like a technological neanderthal . . . but how exactly do you check online decisions? Is there a website you go to? And if so, then what time and what day are they posted? Or do they just send out mass emails at a certain time?

They are e-mailed after 5 PM on March 31.

What exactly do they mean by after? Is there a cetain window in which you get the e-mail or does everyone get it at 5?

How hard is it to understand that "they are e-mailed after 5 PM on March 31." ??

from what i remember, wasn't there a website that you could try to log into before the email got to you before 5 and all the accepted could log in while others can't?

You can try to log onto the Accepted Students page using your PIN. If you can get in, you're in, but if you can't get in, you might still be in (it depends on when they update their database).

I got my EA email around 5:30, FYI.

i never got my user name and pin to check online decisions, is that a problem??

You can't check online decisions; instead, they e-mail you your decision. If you want to check if you're in the "Accepted Students" section, that info can be found on a document Harvard sent you shortly after receiving your app, which gave you a pin #.

it might be a bad idea to do that... last year yale rescinded its offer of admission to people who tried to find out about their admission decision before they got the e-mail.

i applied EA and got my deferral e-mail right at 5. i don't see why it would be any different this time (except for the outcome for me, i hope) :)

your username is only your last name...your pin came in a letter approx a week after your app was received...to re-receive: e-mail the address given on the website: https://adm-web.fas.harvard.edu/ha/Applicant/ApplicantFrame.html (something "admpin"), w/ subject line: PIN, and your full name as the message content...very easy, should arrive soon afterwards

~I know because I had to do this at least once :)

Do you have any links to websites documenting this? I'd imagine many people would check just to make sure their username/password were correct. Can anyone else verify the truth of this statement?

hey geminihop, how long does it take for them to respond your email with a pin???

It's automated so it's immediate.

I thought the decision emails were sent out in waves (over a few hours), so as not to crash Harvard's server. Someone correct me if I'm wrong (I hope I am...I don't want to be sitting in front of my computer all evening hitting "Refresh Inbox").

I think they are sent out as fast as the servers can handle them without crashing the servers

the decisions will be released when its 2.30 am here...no way am I staying up for that. I'll wake up in the morning and check- I'm not giving up my beauty sleep for anything :p

Now if this was about Princeton's decision then it would be a different story but I really didnt appreciate my deferral from Harvard at that unearthly hour :D and this time its likely to be a rejection :p

Is it 5pm eastern time? I know some schools do it by local time. What about Harvard?

5pm eastern time

thanks! i feel so stupid for not knowing, but after applying to so many schools, i start getting the times confused.

Actually, I had to wait 3 days once to get my PIN. This was over Thanksgiving though, and they might have shut the computers down.
