If you didn’t get an email telling you to check your status, then your admittance hasn’t been decided yet. I don’t know why UCI sent out an early wave of acceptances but so far no one I know has received a rejection, though many have not gotten the email. Rumors say that they went ahead and accepted the top applicants, but there will be more acceptances later.

I wonder if major has something to do with it? My son should be a top applicant, but he applied to engineering.
UC gpa 4.27
SAT 2160
ACT 35

He is not ELC because he goes to an exceptionally competive high school. I read that some of the accepted students were not ELC, so that theory is blown.

momofmv, your son has great stats. Those stats are definitely above the average applicant at UCI.

I would not be worried if I were you, and in my own opinion, I do not think major matters. They will most likely move your son to his secondary or undeclared major if he is not qualified for his first choice major.

Thank you junshik. I thought his stats were high too. That’s why I think the acceptances are not just for high stats. Who knows why they do things??? We are hopeful that he will get in to UCI and several of his other choices. We really loved the UCI campus…it would be better if it was in Northern CA for us though.

I’m a transfer applicant and I was wondering if anyone else had the problem of accessing the message center on the main page of the admissions website. Every time I click on it, the page doesn’t seem to load.

hello momofmv. majors certainly counts a lot in admissions. However, your son should be fine. His stats are high and will most likely get in safely without a problem, that is, if he did enough extra curricular activities. Best of lucks to your son!
