So, if you can't visit all the colleges you're accepted to, what ways will you (or did you) go about gathering all the information you need to make your decision as to which college will be the ideal choice when you have not visited all of them?

I'd love to get suggestions on the best ways you think you can remotely gather information that will lead to a wise choice as to the best "fit" college.

Talk to current students.

Look for differences in course structure, Distribution/core classes

Admission blogs if available.

There is some truth to some stereotypes. So consider these, but with a block of salt.

Interviewing helps a lot. Also, I’ve found that through Facebook, you can usually find connections/friends who are willing to talk to you about why they love/hate their school. There are also several guidebooks that offer more than statistics about each school and actually give an indepth look. look for them at your local library.

Thanks for these suggestions. I think you’re both right that personal contacts, even if just by phone or Facebook, would be a big help beyond surfing the 'net. Hopefully the Admissions Offices can suggest contacts too.
