I'm really passionate in arts and I was wondering if any CC members could give me advice on how to open one. Please help !

Depedns on your school policy.
For us, you have to have five willing members (including yourself) and a teacher who can supervise.

^ Hum… I didn’t thought that before, but do you have to talk to your counselor about this?

Moreover, what are the categories for a successful club?(apart from motivation of other members)

I think you talk to the Student Activities Office, which I think you should have. Counselors are usually pretty hard to get to.

Do something different, that the school doesnt already have.
I know some kids a few years ago brought back the Robotics club, a few others started some environmental-global warming-friends to the planet type club.
We also have something called AMPED for kids who play guitar (or really any instrument), want to learn, or just want to watch. They hold an acoustic night every year in April, it’s really cool.

Also check to see if your school has the national clubs –> Key club, habitat for humanity, JSA, etc.
If you dont, you can always start that one.

Yep. Just make sure you have an adviser and start getting members who are interested, and the club will go from there.

Sadly our school doesn’t have a Student Activities Office, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what do you really do in a club? My school barely have 5 clubs at most but people joined them just to have a place to eat lunch.
I have some activities in mind but not sure whether the members would be interested in.
Any suggestions?

An art club, or more specifically a National Art Honor Society, often will have fundraisers (ie selling painted Christmas ornaments) and raising money to go on a trip to some art museum. You might also paint a mural for your school, or a backdrop for a community talent show. My school’s NAHS also paints the front windows of the school for homecoming and prom. Typically you start that type of club by getting a list of people who are interested, finding a teacher (probably an art teacher who really likes you) who will be your adviser, and then approach the administration about creating the club.

@ Sirensong: Is that the name of your Art Club? sounds really elit :)

Yeah… That’s pretty much my school. Except ASB hosts these things once a month called Club Meetings where clubs have to report to ASB, send minutes, and send a representative (usually VP or Pres.)

Here’s the website: [National Art Education Association - Community - National Art Honor Societies](http://www.arteducators.org/olc/pub/NAEA/community/community_page_10.html)

It’s not really elite at all, in my school you only need to have taken 2 art classes and gotten As in both of them to be eligible, and almost everyone who applies gets in. The only reason some people get rejected is if they say they only want to join to put it on their resume. I think it’s pretty easy to start an NAHS chapter…
