how do you date-rize your employment if you are still employed?

on the commonapp, it asks you to put your work experience in the following format:

approximate dates (mm/yyyy to mm/yyyy)

what if you still are and will be employed?

i think it is

starting date to present

ex: 10/2005 - present.

Agreed, that's what i put last year.

you can't put letters!

i'm applying online

put the date that you are filling out the application aka today's date.

but if you know you'll stay on the job for at least another year?

my point is, would colleges look at (05/04-12/2011) and say wth?

can you leave the end date blank?

hmm, maybe they'll interpret the blank as incomplete as opposed to present? i donlt know. maybe i'll put 2011.

I thought it would be a good idea to put in something like 08-2006 when you would be leaving the job to attend college. Anyone agree with this?

no, my job is not restricted by geography. it's a very long time commitment
