<p>Hint: What face of the tank has the least area, and what is its area? Once you know this, the problem is easy.</p>

<p>It’s easy. The side with the least area is the 2x3 side. If you put it on this side, the height needs to be such that the liquid has volume 16. Since V = l X w X h, you have</p>
<p>(2)(3)(h) = 16 ===> h = 16/6 = 8/3</p>
<p>Much simpler once you think about it this way. The volume of the liquid is the same no matter how you orient it.</p>
