I know a lot of you do this, but I have no idea how to get colleges to even consider allowing me to take classes on their campus.

How do you enroll in courses at universities when you are only in high school? Who do you contact? Are there any requirements? I want to take courses over the summer at colleges (preferably not community colleges though)

1.) If it is a local university, visit the admissions office and meet with a college counselor. It's best to arrange an appointment ahead of time to avoid waiting outside. The counselor will be able to answer your questions and help you register the courses you want to take.

2.) Register online on the website. To register, you need a login ID & password beforehand. Click on Summer Term 2006 (or whatever the term is called) and a course catalog should be somewhere in that link.

*There might be prerequisites, such as taking X class or passing a placement test, so be sure to sign up for those or attach any necessary transcripts if it is required.

kchen,
regarding the second option: aren't those links normally for university not high school students? The only summer courses set up for high school students are not normal college courses- more like summer programs
thanks :)

I have around 70 credits from a local university (I am a high school senior now). It's not really that difficult generally (I have taken classes at four colleges, which have all been easy to enroll in). The only bad thing is that you have to pay out-of-pocket at many schools, which can be around $6000 / semester.
