This seems like a dumb question, but I just finished up AP Lang and Comp and that might kind of helpful for the Lit test, but I’ve heard Lit is very hard. How do I prepare for the Lit test besides lots and lots of practice?
I took it a couple months ago, and I’d say what helped the most for preparation was reading old passages and poems. Half of the test is poetry and half is prose, but most people run out of time and don’t get through all of the questions. I’d practice timing yourself, and get the collegeBoard prep book to familiarize yourself with the questions
I think it is an easy test for kids who are big readers. My kids both familiarized themselves with the types of questions via a prep book, but neither spent more than a few hours with it. Both got very good scores. Reading speed probably is a big factor.
I just want to add that I think my kids got very few questions right due to familiarity with the actual pieces of literature. It is about analysis ability, vocabulary, and reading speed.
I think the analysis part is what trips up a lot of people.
Read this link, I think it is pretty sound advice: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/english/1439287-how-to-write-a-poetry-analysis-essay-for-ap-literature.html
