If they got accepted to the college/university in question and plan on attending, I don't mind at all. I also don't mind if they wear the gear because they like the college/university's sport team(s), rather than the institution itself.

I do think someone wearing a HYSPM shirt or something before applying is just begging to be made fun of the moment they get rejected.

If you get into Stanford/Harvard/Yale/any college and you wear your shirt, power to you. Congrats for getting in.

If you wear your Stanford shirt because you've supported its football/basketball team since you were 3, power to you.

If you wear your Harvard shirt because you're stuck up and think you're better than everyone else, then you deserve to go sit in the corner for time out.

^ I agree with the above. However, a lot of people wear those kinds of shirts because their sibling/friend is in the school, and it's a gift, and people automatically assume they're acting arrogant, etc.

most everyone around my school has UGA stuff because they support the football team. likewise, i have my gtech hoodies/purse because i support the team. i happen to be going there, but i figure it's ok either way.

and my best friend's fav hoodie is a black and purple furman one... i swear, she just likes the excuse to wear a "FU" hoodie :)

I just get really annoyed when they wear the Harvard ones when I know they have no interest in attending/or a shot at getting in. But I usually see people wearing college apparel from a lot of the state schools.

I own a University of Nevada sweatshirt even though I don’t live in Nevada and have no plan of ever going to the University of Nevada.

Cookies for anyone who knows why I own one. Other than that, yeah, I don’t really like wearing college apparel, especially of colleges that would reject me.

I wouldnt want to wear college apparel that have/ may reject me, which is why I wouldn’t wear any out in public unless I was accepted into their university, othr than that I would wear their apparel at home.

Since i’m on my school’s debate team, A LOT of people from my team/school wear college shirts of the colleges that we have visited during our debate trips (like UChicago and Northwestern) or actually debated at (Harvard, Yale, Penn.) even if they are never going to apply.

There are a lot of people at my school who wear Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, USC… but it has more to do with supporting football and basketball teams than making people think they are going there.
Once in a month, I see a Brown or a Harvard t-shirt but that’s it. It doesn’t matter to me.

It really doesn’t matter to me but if you’re wearing college apparel, it should be given to you, you’re supporting some sports team, or you plan on attending. If you happened to get accepted at an elite school and you wear the apparel so what if people think you’re being pretentious.

Well I’m a junior in high school and I am a fan of 3 college sports team : Colorado, USC, North Carolina. I have like 3 colorado t shirt, a USC t shirt, and a North Carolina t shirt and Sweatshirt. I wear those shirt in high school all the time and I think there is nothing wrong with it. even though I don’t have a plan to attend any of these college.
