How do you feel about the new Health Care Bill?

I read a survey that 60% of current doctor want to retire early just because of this bill.

I can't imagine that the pay cut would be that much of a problem, as many people have said that it would increase the salaries of primary care physicians.

I've even met a few people that have started to have doubts about medical school because of this bill.

I don't think it's that big of a deal.

How do you feel about it?

bump to the top? :P

It DOES not increase salary for primary care.

2010 Medicare Schedule calls for 6% increase in primary care reimbursement.

What does that really mean? When you factor in inflation (not to mention medical inflation- think malpractice rates), it is an across the board cut for every specialty.

American doctors are smart enough to figure that out and that is why they are so resistant.

Will the pay cut be drastic? I don’t speak for myself, or for most aspiring doctors, when I say this, but the salary is a main draw for these careers!

Sorry i mean 6% increase in pay over 4 years.

Unfortunately, over 4 years, medical inflation (rising malpractice and administrative costs) and regular inflation would demolish those gains.

Also I think that there’s a bill that’s going to cut either medicare or medicaid reimbursements by 21%. That pretty much makes taking these kinds of patients a straightout loss and not at break even point

To take money from wealthy Americans who for the most part, rightfully earn their money, and give it out to the poorer people of society. This reminds me of Robin Hood, and all other points aside, Robin Hood was a theif.

*thief
can’t edit on my phone

Robin Hood robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. In that sense he was a wealth redistributor.

However, don’t be so quick to politicize him as a liberal. Remember, Prince John was rich because he charged exorbitantly high taxes. You could argue that Robin Hood was simply enforcing a popular rebellion against high tax rates.

But wouldn’t the rich also be subject to high taxes?

I just don’t understand their rationale. Doctors, who work their entires lives to make a good living, are now being under-payed because of citizens that didn’t have the same drive? The Obama Administration has openly stated that primary care physicians are the most under-payed doctors in modern times, and then they turn around and take a little more from them?

Anyone care to explain this to me, because I’m baffled.

Not in 1200s England, no.
