<p>But since they also said that an extra box would show up in your "myMIT" account if you were accepted (no extra box otherwise), couldn't you actually find out if you're accepted before you get the letter or the TUBE? Wouldn't that destroy your hopes if you see no extra box online on Dec. 15?</p>
<p>For the past two years, admissions decisions have been available online in mid-December the day after admissions decisions were mailed. If you don't want to get your decision until the mail comes, then you shouldn't check the decision on the website (which in the past has been decisions.mit.edu or something like that). It's up to you whether you want to check online or wait for the mail.</p>
