How do you find what to write about in your essay?

I'm applying to USC and I've finished everything except the personal statement, I don't know what to write about!

it seems like I have nothing interesting to write about but at the same time I want to go to USC

Anyone who was stuck like this how did you overcome it? Any tips would be appreciated

Personal statement was hard for me too because the topic is very general. When I can literally write anything, I feel the freedom is kind of intimidating. I guess you should focus on one of your qualities that you want to show the college. Try to think of those seemingly little/ordinary things you did to highlight your special quality/personality. Convey your own thoughts and ideas. Don’t worry if you think the things you did are not interesting because it’s not about things, it’s about how you did it.
I’m not sure if this will help, but at least it’s the way I look at college essays.

Start with something natural. It should

1) Come easily to you
2) Be something you’re enthusiastic about
3) Involve a story

A lot of students try too hard to impress. Your essay doesn’t have to involve academics or extracurricular activities; as long as it is personal and memorable, it will work in your favor.
