Since this fall, schools from every corner of the country sent me letters and postcards asking me to visit their campus. While I'm glad some of the top schools recognized me, a few lower-tier schools sent me at least a dozen pieces of mail telling me the same thing. "Visit our campus" or "get acquainted" are usually what the schools want me to do. I try to ignore it, but it has been ongoing for months. I didn't see an option to opt out anywhere on the mail. What can I do to assure myself I won't get spam from those schools? How can I successfully unsubscribe from the mailing list without sounding like a jerk?

E-mails are better. I've unsubscribed from the mailing lists I don't want to, and I've placed the unwanted messages in the spam folder.

I have the student search services and that college expo thing to thank. I wasn't warned that I'd receive a ton of spam. I made a similar thread a while ago, but I'm still worried about Dominican University, DePaul University, Saint Mary's, among other schools sending me things through college admissions season. If those schools actually send me their application, I'll return it to them.
