How do you get into Penn (or any Ivy League) with less than a 30 or a 2000?

The middle 50% ACT (I'm from the Midwest, so I don't completely understand SAT scores but I'm guessing it's 2100-2300 or something for Penn) is 31-34. Obviously there are kids who get over a 34 and get in. But what about those kids who get 30s, 29s, and even lower and get in to Penn?

They make up 25% of the admitted population, yet saying that you have below a 33 on these threads leads to responses like "Your scores are awful! You're not getting in!"

I doubt ALL of them are legacies or minorities. And your essays and EC's can only do so much. Any thoughts?

This is of special interest to me because I got a 30 :P

Really good EC’s, essays, a hook perhaps.

But don’t the 32+ kids have that?

Dont’ listen to the people that deem people with scores less than a 34 to be failures as student.

look lol i think the same exact thing…i have a 27…im white and from kansas…my only chance is my ecs but i have searched cc and google trying to find anyone (not international) what got in with a <28 score and I think i am S.O.L.

I know a white girl who needed heavy financial aid who got in with an 1860 and I believe a 27 or 28.

Nicky Nick…for real…what year was it do you know…was it last year
