How do you get over a bad mistake or grade?

How do you forgive yourself, stop thinking about it, and move on?

It's so hard for me every time I screw something up, I wonder "what-if" until I go crazy....

in some cases for me i dont forgive them but still move on, and for grades i dont worry about them for the simple fact that they are just going to be averaged wit the other six weeks.

just forget about it

Remember that although you can’t change the past, there are PLENTY of years in your life ahead of you that can be shaped in any way you want, at your own free will :)

Dude, there are plenty of class exams ahead of you. 1 test isn’t literally going to bring you down. I know, I’ve been like you before in Junior year with my math class since I was the top 2%.

u just…get on with your life -_-

Lol I’ve gotten so used to seeing 70s (and once in a while 60s and 50s) in some calc and stat quizzes/tests that it doesn’t really faze me much. I only go “aw…that sucks. Oh well,” and move on. Back in middle school I would have cried if I got a low grade, but now it doesn’t matter.

Just keep this in mind, YOU WILL DO BETTER ON THE NEXT ONE. Doing bad on one thing won’t kill you because doing good on everything else will balance out the average. Despite all those 70s, 60s, and 50s I mentioned getting, I still get an A in those classes. Because I work hard in doing the assignments, take advantage of any extra credit-type opportunities, and study really hard for the big exams.

When you make a mistake:

1: Make sure you’ve done everything you can to fix it.
2: Apologise, if you harmed anyone.
3: Get on with other things, that ideally aren’t mistakes.

If the bad grade is because you didn’t understand something then you make sure you learn it… If it’s just a collection of dumb errors then it was a concidence, get over it. If you can’t then the doctor prescribes you a pair of testicles.

vent it out? For now, this is not really a big issue for me; senior year doesn’t count as much :]

I cry and do something to distract myself until the tears stop (like cleaning). I then go to sleep, and by the next morning, I’m almost entirely over it.

I just forget about it, unless it becomes a problem. If I get like 90+s on almost all of my tests and get a C on one test, it’s not really a big deal. I just figure out what I did wrong, learn whatever I didn’t understand/ get annoyed at myself for reading errors, and forget about it. What’s done is done; you can’t live your life focusing on your failures. You have to work to farther your achievements instead.

This year is my first year taking more than 1 AP course and I’m doubling science to add to the misery. In the beginning of the year, I would CRY if I saw grades below a 90 on any test and even considered dropping a science. However, I learned this year would be harder and I would have to suffer through a B or C once in a while. I started focusing on doing my best, rather than the grade. I do get bad grades sometimes, but I’m still 6th in my class of about 350 and my average has actually gone UP since last year. I have about a 97.5 unweighted and a 98.5 weighted. I am particularly pleased with myself AND I have learned more this year than I ever have before, inside and outside the classroom.

I don’t get over it.

I am totally in the same situation as you now. I just bombed a economics test. I had a serious stomache but I don’t think I should blame my stomach. Do something you like will help.

I usually put the test away first and try to forget about it. I just immediately feel so bad and miserable that looking at the test wouldn’t help. Then, later on, I force myself to look at the test, and see what I have to do/improve on for the next test. I also make sure I don’t start thinking if only/if i had/if this had happened, etc . . . because that would just make me depressed.

Get over it- it’s just one assignment/exam.
Bad grade? It won’t kill you. There are more important things in life to worry about.

I hope that didn’t sound too rude… but really, it’s not as important as you make it out to be. One mistake, over the course of your life? No big deal. One grade? Don’t be closed-minded. You’ll get into whatever college you want if you continue to work to your fullest potential and don’t stress out about grades!! There are really more important things to worry about :]
And if the bad grade on an assignment/exam or for a class is due to procrastination, target that problem and work on fixing it. Don’t stress about the grade itself. Use it instead as inspiration to work harder :]
