How do you get recruited by a big accounting firm?

I am trying to get a summer internship with a big accounting firm. Any advise on what i should do? I have a 3.18 gpa (3.38 major gpa), a part of the ASCEND student accounting org, do tax-aid community service, have 3 years customer service experience working retail, and currently have a small internship with an online company. I would say that I have the leadership and work experience, but my gpa could use a little work. So far Ive only had one interview (with KPMG) and did not get accepted. Does anyone have any advise on how to get connected with these firms?

For internships, do not limit yourself to just big accounting firms or even to just public accounting. Students that do that, unless they KNOW they will get an offer, often end up with nothing.

Any accounting/finance experience you get this summer will be good, and you may even find you like that company more than the ones you are targeting now, and you can leverage it during and to get interviews for full-time positions next year.
