hi everyone!:)
i'm planning on going to the cornell days, was wondering how i should get to the campus from the syracuse airport. i know tompkins county is much closer to cornell, but it's so much more expensive to fly there. so i was thinking of going to syracuse and then go to cornell from there. do i need to arrange a cab/taxi service? do i just get a random cab from the airport? i'm going by myself, so i'm a little scared about this trip, as i am unfamiliar with the area. please help me out. any suggestions/advice will be appreciated. thanks!!

taxi/shuttle. I hear it costs closer to the same price to fly to tompkins and you're right on campus and dont have to pay the big taxi fee

thanks, sparticus800!!!
do you know how much the taxi/shuttle costs? is there a specific company you recommend? when i searched online (expedia.com), there was a couple hundred bucks difference.

i purchased my ticket today, which is totally stupid cuz i could get it alot earlier alot cheaper. anyway i just got tompkins because even thought it was something 80 bux difference, i thought getting cornell from syracuse wouldnt be so cheap and easy. (it's appx. 90 min from syracuse to cornell)

p.s : still dont count on me, there's probably some afforable way (bus perhaps) to get cornell from syracuse.

hey dreaming, where are you coming from? and which website did you use to book your ticket? cuz i'm browsing through expedia.com and it's such a pain to figure out the best price that goes with my schedule and everything.:(

Syracuse is a long way from Cornell...we heard there is "limo" service and they said to use the word "limo" loosly. Once you decide if Cornell is where you want to be you will probably meet people from Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and can fly there and drive with them. It is a pretty but country route to Cornell. Very rural away from campus.

misty i used expedia.com.

Flying to Syracuse is a lot cheaper than Ithaca for me at least, because I can fly jetBlue, which is under $200 round trip, compared to $360 to Ithaca.

Syracuse is only about an hour from Ithaca, use mapquest and it'll tell you exactly how to get there (haha, trust me you don't want directions from me), or click here:

If you find an affordable way to get between Syracuse and Ithaca, I advise you fly to Syracuse.

krk3561, i didnt know jetblue also flies to ithaca. because on the Cornell Days booklet it says "the ithaca tompkins regional airport is a 15 min drive from campus and is served by US Airway Express..."

and when i searched on expedia.com it looked like US Airway is, in fact, only airplanes go there. (at least they were cheapest)

i checked jetblue and it doesnt even go to syracuse from d.c. (where i'll be flying from). and mine costs like $500...i'm wondering if i really should go to this thing.:(

prices GO up, "of course".

you need buy your ticket ASAP. (i could get my ticket for about 200 dollars if i had bought that on a day i got my acceptance package, but i wait wait wait and i paid over 300 dollars)

so if you want to go, buy NOW. price will go up tomorrow.

hehe yea me too. i've been sorta waiting till the last minute cuz i wasnt so sure if i was gonna go. but i finally managed to get it. and i'm going to cornell tomorrow! yikes.:p i hope i'm not the only one without parents.:(

Only USAir flies to Ithaca. And in my opinion its totally worth the price difference. Flying into ithaca is like the easiest, most convenient thing in the world.
