how do you get to nu from o'hare?

whats the fastest, easiest, and the cheapest way to get to the campus from the airport (ORD)? i know the preview nu site has a couple of numbers/companies there, but do you recommend one over the other? is there any other way to get to the school? please please let me know if you have any ideas on this. thaaaanks!:)

Cab - fastest
"El" - cheapest
Your Own Car = Easiest

If you're going to get a cab, call ahead so you can get the flat rate to Evanston. Right now, it is $25.50 (plus tip) from O'Hare to anywhere in Evanston. I think 303 Taxi company is the best, but Northshore is also fine.

I recommend taking a cab. You have to call an Evanston suburban company (Best Taxi, Northshore, American, etc) and ask for a flat rate.

El will be cheapest, but it is a very confusing and long ride ( 2 hours at least) to campus. Plus, you have to walk some ways.

sorry guys, but what's "el"?

chicago's subway system. boston's is the "T", and d.c.'s is the metro.

As a chicago native...I can tell you that unless you are headed downtown...don't take CTA...it'll take all day...and you WILL get lost. Evanston is a little ways from downtown...so you'll have to do some navigating.

Def don't drive your self....the Kennedy (I-90) at 4PM...eek.

Go w/ the cab and make it easy.

Okay...if you do decide on public transportation..you'll wanna take the blue line into downtown...get off at clark and transfer to the purple line..and take that up to either foster or davis...then it'll be a little walk.

how much do you have to call ahead for a cab?

I read something that said you can basically just call from the baggage claim and they will meet you in 5-10 minutes.

Also, what's the best way to get back? I'm assuming cab, but how early should you call them and where should you get them to meet you.

yeah, so i've travelled alone before but usually to visit family and i have hardly ever taken cabs so i'm a little nervous. I really don't have a clear idea what to do/say but I think i'll be okay.

Signify - Airport Shuttle.

You don't have to call ahead of time for 303 Taxi. When you get your luggage, just call them and say "Yeah, I'm at O'Hare and I need a cab to Evanston" and they'll give you a cab number and tell you where to stand (usually 1/2/3G) and the cab'll be there in about 10 minutes and'll take you to Evanston for $25.50 plus tip.

It's cheaper to take the Airport Shuttle. It's a $20 flat rate.

thanks for the help. i leave for the airport in checks watch about three hours. yikes! :)
